Hmmm, if the "world" embraced these brave rebels, why didn't Britain lose the Raj until 19 years later, after they had been weakened by World War 2? Were there any major American voices backing the satyagrahis in the 1930's, like FDR?

And how exactly will a move to solar-powered sustainable development come about due to acts of rebellion - when people start unscrewing their light bulbs and smash them on the steps of City Hall, demanding an end to the use of electricity? Have we seen any large developing country demonstrations where the people demanded that the international companies take those awful new jobs OUT of their country?

FWIW,India's combination of socialism, protectionism and bureaucracy since independence hindered their economic growth dramatically, until reforms began in the 1990's.

I think this example is more than a little bit of a reach. You captured the spirit but not a plausible scenario for the subject we are discussing.
