Gregor,

a friend of mine sold a big piece of property within the last 12 months. After running the deal through the best tax accts, he ended up with a $5 million tax bill to Uncle Sam and Cousin Arnold of Calif.

The simplest solution to delay the tax is via a 1031. After searching for a few months, he decided to just write the check because the property is sold at the peak and there are really nothing worthwhile to invest in.

Could that be the same conclusion that the US Corporations came up with? Why would they invest in factories, create jobs, all those textbook theories when the world is already flooded with excess capacity? Just pay those damn taxes and try to hang on to whatever the government leaves you with for the rainy days ahead.

So as tax revenues increase, especially from corporations, is that really a good sign?
