You're wrong. Kerry said his position on gay marriage was identical to Cheney's, who has a gay daughter with a "life partner". Bush is officially more to the right, though he too is hypocritical as personally he couldn't give a damn about it. Just pandering to the religious right because Rove tells him to do so. And Rove himself is rumored to be a secretly married closet gay man.
