The political reactions to this US Supreme Court decision were illuminating. Even Senators were on television expressing their open astonishment that President Bush, Vice President Cheney, etc. could all be hauled into Federal Court to face charges of being international war criminals. Then, over the first week of July, everything became silent, apart from some reports to the effect that the Republican members in both Houses of Congress had to begin to work even more closely with the White House. Then those streams of political news started to go silent too. Silence now covers the land. The reason appears to be that this Supreme Court decision strikes too deep. Its findings actually cover vast territories of US legal ground and its consequences could shake the US to its very core. This can be shown from the response by the American legal profession which, apart from some early comments, are also silent. The statements they did make, in public, state that this Supreme Court decision has Re-Affirmed The Republic. The "unitary" Presidency is over.

A few others like yourself are just living in denial

It is going to be a very long two and a half years for your boy, Watson.
