I also saw Cache last night and had a similar reaction to you and your husband. I felt cheated. I watched the Directors interview and felt even worse. There is a bit in the last scene at the school that I missed and when I watched that part, I was even more furious.
I am loving Chungyiang. The singing narrator is like a single Greek chorus and a Throat singer at the same time. Quite a wonderful, operatic story.
By the way, my wife returned from out of town and I told her the whole plot of Cache and she thought it was a deconstructive marvel. Of course she didn't have to sit through it. The one thing that was quite interesting was the events of Oct. 1961 in Paris, that the Director said was the original motivation for the screenplay.
