We saw Inconvenient Truth this weekend, and found it reasonable, entertaining, and not at all what I expected. It was like being at a very interesting lecture with an excellent power point presentation and a very coherent and intelligent speaker. For someone with no scientific bent at all, who tends to glaze over during a lot of these discussions, it made a lot of tough info approachable. I got a lot out of it.
The trailer was very misleading, imo-- all the doom music and scary stuff. We did feel slightly manipulated at times, and we did wonder about the rehabilitation aspect of it for Gore himself, but I found myself liking him. It doesn't come across as an alarmist piece, more a hey, this COULD happen, look at some of these changes already (in particular, the CO2 counts) and people ought to see it just as a kind of primer on the concepts. It just makes sense to me to consider his POV. I am now trying to read the rebuttals, but struggling. They have no pictures, and they don't tell jokes.
