it's funny you say that - my roommates are Hill staffers, and I said much the same thing a couple weeks ago. The most likely scenario, I'm afraid, is that the current two parties would simply shut them out. Additionally, and unfortunately, much of what we face doesn't have a solution. We've an aging population that will require increasing medical care to maintain their quality of life. We have anonymous, dangerous, and determined enemies whose harm to us is limited only by practicality, not intent. I know many, many smart people who spend days and nights wrestling with these issues. It's not that our political system is burying solutions...it's that there frequently isn't a solution, only a least of evils. Terrorism is the obvious example. There simply is no fix for that. All we can do is try to navigate a path that allows the least damage to people and things in the priority we place them...a path that will, obviously, be fraught with debate.
