Corporate network service provider ANS Communications will announce tomorrow 56-kbps dial-up service for its customers in more than 80 U.S. cities, the latest example of the technology's expansion.

Using x2 modem technology developed by U.S. Robotics, acquired by 3Com (COMS) earlier this year, ANS will offer the access to its SureRemote customers. SureRemote is ANS's service that provides remote access to corporate intranets. The software-based upgrade will be free to those customers.
