Yes, I understand now what you were referring to as Gore's argument relative to the piece I posted. However, I disagree with your statement that the consensus scientific view is that the gulf stream is largely responsible for the present relatively warmer climates in western Europe and England. Skimming through a few research articles on "atmospheric heat transport" on Google indicates that many atmospheric scientists believe that the atmosphere plays the largest part in warming in the higher latitudes.
