Ya know, TD, I've read a lot of conflicting stuff on MMs, but my understanding is most of the large ones make markets on hundreds and hundreds of stocks and are not in the business of speculating which ones are going higher or lower. Rather they are in the business of making their small spreads and having as little left over stock at the end of the day as possible.

God knows I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am, but my guess is much of what is attributed to MMs here may be more a question of very short term supply and demand. Now I'm as paranoid as the next guy and would like to hold the MMs responsible for all the downticks and assume our good judgment is responsible for all the upticks, but I'm becoming more skeptical of that thinking.

All IMO, of course. Thought we could use another good controversy on the thread. (:>)
