Dealing with blackmailers is always a mistake. First trusting a thief to not steal from you is foolish. Second trusting that a liar is telling the truth this time is likely to end unhappily.

North Korea is reeling from effective sanctions. Are you proposing that now we have them on the ropes we should let them up. How many prize fighters have followed that strategy to victory?
