I didn't know Zarqawi regrew his legs - that is impressive. So a writer in 2003 was wrong about the nature of the operations Zarqawi had in Baghdad.

The arbiter of these connections is the CIA and the intelligence community. There is a whole report on these connections between El - Qaida and Saddam - unfortunately we cannot read the original but we can read some comments about them.

Remember, the El Qaida links to Saddam in Sudan had been much discussed prior to this report as had the Iraq connection to the affiliate of El Qaida in Ansar Al Islam ( Zarqawi's group). Also the meeting of Zarqawi and other Terrorists about a year before the war in Baghdad.

What do they say on p. 33 of the 2004 Senate Intelligence committee report?

"While in the case of Iraq's links to terrorism, the final analysis has proven, thus far, to have been accurate and not affected by a lack of relevant source or operational detail..."

and

"The review revealed that the CIA analysts who prepared Iraqi Support for Terrorism made careful, measured assessments which did not overstate or mischaracterize the intelligence reporting on which it was based".
