BB Thanks for your response. It is my understanding that the major stumbling block to the use of copper is the migration of the copper into the silicon. The reference cited, referred to a patented "fusion barrier". Since one would presume this is an IBM patent, then anyone developing tools to apply the copper would necessarily have to have a license to use the patent process. If true, do you or any other reader have knowledge of how IBM has handled process licenses in the past? Might IBM give a head start or an exclusive license to the tool supplier they are working with? Just a question rattling around in my mind as I evaluate events that could impact AMAT's long term potential.
