I was told an opinion by a muslim man.
He thought that the women were really behind the restrictions.
Burkas and arranged marriages mean that all women have a good chance of a marriage regardless of their physical appearance. They don't need makeup, diets, or new clothes to attract a mate.

He was a rather westernized muslim man who liked mini-skirts and other western styles.
