and this from the "let's shrink government" crowd. i mean, the skirt wearing republican cheerleaders on tv haven't even given up that mantra yet - when it is so plainly obvious.
anyway, it is clear what bush is doing. he's so scared of having another attack during his term he'll do anything to 1. prevent it or 2. set up someone to blame if it goes down - the press.
well, not anything. he makes sure that big business has open borders so they get cheap labor and he'll outsource anything that pays a decent wage.
on a side note, starhawke and i met up in vegas to play some poker, drink and talk smack. it was fun, but goodness, those tourists DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY POKER. i had to wipe the drool off my mouth when i sat down at a table where almost everyone anted up to see the flop. i knew it was going to be a good day.
anyway, i'm not all that good. i don't play that much. i don't play online. i haven't read any strategy books and i occasionally find myself in a love affair with my pocket cards - even after they've been exposed on the flop. even so, it was like taking candy from a baby. it is as if these folks come to vegas for the express purpose of losing their money.
i wanted to do a tournament, but it was cancelled due to construction. i'm glad it was cancelled. :-)
half of me thinks i did as well as i did because i got some good cards. star and i were knee deep in a pot with a third guy. we had queen high straights and he had a king high straight. the king on the river was a nice surprise when we saw his cards.
the other half thinks the first half is right. that's not to say that there are some terrible tourist poker players in vegas. egads. just say no.
the beat down of the trip was a poor sap who had a pocket 2 and was looking at A, 3, 4, 5. he was a little shocked to see the other guy drop a 6 and then a 7. ouch! |
