You are right. Your .04 is from raw untouched dirt in the ground. Oddly enough, I actually worked in the early 80's drilling and taking samples (during college) for a Maxam subunit (it may have been Eagle Peak Mng, I can't remember). Now, I was not the assayer or chemists involved. I just dug the holes, gathered the samples, and categorized (sp?) them by depth and location. I was always amazed to not see money just rolling in. The gold and other precious metals are there. As are the semi-precious metals. The problem most efforts failed was what to do with the mercury. Maxam's process (not the true name) does not produce a raw mercury hazard. But I still hate the BLM. It is a great example of Gov't fraud waste and abuse (IMO).
