Software issue. My old capture software might not
even be written for XP.

What I like about Dell is that the innards are laid
out very nice, roomy to work and upgrade (although
on my old 2150 and my new 5150 (e510) I only got one
PCI slot. But that is all I needed. I am fine with
onboard sound.

And these two PC's I have are very quiet.

Plus, if you buy one that has been out a few
years, all the firmware, bios, stuff like that
has been through a lengthy shakedown. And I know
where to go if I need a driver etc.

I'll never pay more than $500 again.
(my 2150 a few years ago was a very good bargain.
I think it was something like $350, but included
Microsoft office!)

Windows can burn a DVD, but my Video editing
software may not see the drive properly...or something.

I was able to store an image of the contents I want
to burn--so Studio AV 8 works to that degree.

I am surprised that the rendering (mpeg-2) and creating
and compiling the dvd disc contents still takes several hours.
So, I will probably upgrade to the latest software and
probably get a big performance boost and compatibility
by doing that. AV 8 is five years old. Studio Plus 10.5 is
the latest. Incidently, PCLE was bought out by Avid I
think. PCLE not trading anymore.

More than you wanted to know!
