Since modern American life is part of the international community where we are signatories to many treaties, it's logical that the SCOTUS would be aware of those applicable international laws as they relate to our Constitution and the issues before the court.

I am just wondering how the US can exert world leadership if we have no regard for international law? Do we stand for a lawless international system? I thought it was the bad guys who stood for that?
