You belong to the prescriptive school of language. There are other schools of thought.

The population you seek to avoid conflict with by adhering to unwritten PC rules is completely different from the population for whom dhimmitude rules are self imposed. They have radically different world views. An editor would enforce PC rules becasue he wants to keep going to the good cocktail parties. He would enforce dhimmitude rules to stay alive. Hence, a new word is justified to make the distinction. I would say dhimmitude is an excellent choice. You may describe me as ignorant and nasty if you choose but I don't think that advances the discussion.

Are you sure you used the word hopefully correctly?
