If not for the oil, we Westerners would have been content to let the Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds and everybody else in the area beat each other senseless for all eternity. We're certainly content with the Rwandans, Sudanese and other states killing themselves off. We can't apply the same standard to the non-oil rich countries for some reason.
