We wouldn't have had a 911 if the US didn't have forces in Saudi Arabia either....that's a very plausible argument given the use of terrorism over the last 25 years all around the world. We might not have OBL either if people would have learned the lesson from the oil shocks of the 1970s. The government of Lebanon is apparently very weak and unable to reign in anybody. Now that Israel has taken out the infrastructure, I suspect the government will be even weaker especially if Syria comes back. People keep asking Americans why we can't reign in Dubyette's policies and return to basic competence. These things aren't always for want of motivation or from lack of trying. IMO, the whole world has weak leaders and they get together and fumble around trying to figure out how to line their own pockets.
