They were the guys that won the war for Europe.

I don't disagree that the Russians bore the brunt of the German military might.

But we bore the brunt of defeating the Japanese. And Russia only decided to declare war on Japan in August, 1945 (two days AFTER we bombed Hiroshima) launching a massive military campaign that took them all the way into Korea.
