oh Don, you are such a pest on this thread.
The computer market is 8 times the size of the MP3 market and the macbook is a category killer. Not only that it is better than a big win for another company due to the software aspect. Of course you see no difference between a dell desktop and a mac but that does not translate to 80% of the buying public. Your gross generalizations are so far off it is comical. As to consumers coming back, Apple stores are packed, but people are looking at macbooks not ipods. So much volume is coming through the apple stores they are opening 40 of them this year. I am hoping at least the apple stores have the macbooks to sell.

The sources at the distributors highlighted that monthly shipments of the MacBook is three times that of the former iBook line.

if current shipments are 3 times ibooks then they need to ramp double this. Macbooks are now out of stock at CDW, in addition to being out of stock at best buy, compusa etc. This number doesn't take into effect the best buy stocking which is supposed to happen this month (all stores with macs) plus the holiday season. Since Asustek is so overbooked I expect some of those stories that apple is working on a 15" macbook to be true, mostly because its a way for them to send the mfg to another supplier to fill the demand.
