STF, I agree with most of your analysis, but what I'd like to add is a wildcard -- the out of control hotheads like Hezbollah and Al Qaeda and various other groups that will do anything they can to start a war for their own reasons. You get enough of them doing whatever it takes to provoke a response and the tensions could quickly escalate beyond the point of no return, even if everyone knows that the Israeli/American axis has overwhelming military strength. Collectives are almost as likely as individuals to act irrationally and against their own interests at times. I hope I prove to be wrong! LC
