The problem is that you have 2 groups of people, who both believe God has told them they own the same land - that's a good explanation I heard yesterday somewhere else.
I was a long time supporter of Israel, but it is clear that they are the bully and aggressor in this action now.
They have escalated this into a war, threatening to be a regional war that may get out of hand.
The US protects them by our UN veto - so they feel they can do whatever they want.
We are seeing them destroy the infrastructure of Lebanon before our eyes, just as they destroyed the Gaza power infrastructure.
Israel was created as a reaction to the Holocaust that killed millions of Jews. The victims of that horror have now morphed into an ultra-militaristic, almost fascist regime that believes they can strike out and attack on any scale with impunity, because of their American 800 pound protector.
They are bombing Christian areas of Lebanon today I just heard this morning. They are bombing Beirut's ports and a lighthouse.
Is this worth 3 soldiers captured, or even killed? They killed 15 in a minibus in Lebanon this morning - all civilians.
What I am amazed at is that the rest of the Arab world has done nothing to counter this. The current imbalance is as if the US were attacking Bermuda.
I am amazed that we have not seen more of a reaction from the Arab countries, especially Syria, Egypt, Iran, even the new Iraqi leadership. And what about Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia?
My question is will they allow Lebanon to be destroyed and be put under siege by an aggressor without any consequence? What will the US do if Israel kills our civilians in Lebanon in their attacks? We have 25,000 there CNN says now.
I am outraged by the Israeli aggression, and the world must stop this, and it is time for the US to tell them to stop also- or threaten withdrawing both the UN veto, and continued military and economic support.
JMHO - again from someone who defended Israel for many years, as the quote "victim" - but who now believes it is ISRAEL that is the source of the problem and instability there. |
