Iran has the Sunburn anti-ship missiles. fas.org iran-press-service.com They are extremely fast and travel only 20 meters above the surface. I'm not so sure our high tech armaments can defeat them, especially if they are fired from close range. Phalanx may very well be ineffective against a Sunburn. If our ships in the Persian Gulf cannot be protected from Sunburns, it's time to get them and especially any carriers out and place them some place where they won't be bottled up, as they will be if the Straits of Hormuz are closed, even for a short time. Since many Fifth Fleet ships are within the Gulf, the 129 kilometer range of Sunburn is not a big problem. strategypage.com
