"I'm not at all convinced that we would not have been able to beat Germany in WW2 without the Russians." I agree with RMF. The Russians carried 70-80 percent of the fight against the Germans in WWII. They developed the most effective tank, the T-34, and fought the largest armored battle, the battle of Kursk, where over 6000 armored vehicles were involved.
