Alan, I agree the it would more likely be a grain truck instead of the combine, but the newspaper report noted that it was apparently started by a combine. They were probably guessing without having anyone familiar with harvesting grain.

These days, combines have air conditioned, enclosed cockpits where the harvester works while listening to his favorite music. It is possible that a safe kind of ash tray could be installed, but even that would not be a good ides.

My cousin in Kansas has a tractor that the driver doesn't even have to turn it around. It is geared the same in both directions, and all he has to do is swivel the cockpit around when he wants to go the other way. That's a far cry from the equipment I had to deal with.
