Define liberal...what...you have no idea what that term means...didn't think so.

Considering the ignorance and incompetence of the rightwing, the last thing you guys should be discussing is education. The idea of vouchers is simply another simplistic argument for 'free market' ideology.

Given that no one has ever seen a free market except in theory and given that the rightwing has just proved massive incompetence with the privatization of the Iraq war and Katrina relief...you guys shouldn't even touch privatizing education.

All rightwingers ever want to do is STEAL the hard work of others in order to line their own pockets. All of this STEALING is shrouded in free markets-capitalism crappola none of which you guys can ever get to work.

The point is this. Government IS JUST US. Government is not an entity that is different from us. If Government isn't working then we're not working.

When Government, or the neighborhood watch group or the mega corporation gets out of hand and too big for its britches, then it's time to cut them down to size. As I've said before, power corrupts which is why having Republicans putzing around with one-party rule has increased our national debt by 45% in 6 years and created the dangerously chaotic mess formerly known as Iraq.

It isn't about money, it's about parents palming off their badly behaved children on the school system which has apparently forgotten about reading, writing and arithmetic. Since the economy no longer supports a single-parent working with one staying home with the kids, I have no problem with 12 months of school from 8-5 consisting primarily of reading, writing and arithmetic with some PE thrown in.

I have no problem kicking out disruptive kids, requiring parents to become involved on a regular basis and having homework every night and on weekends. The world has caught up and is getting ahead so tough noogies.

I have no problem with increasing the math and science as requirements along with foreign languages and creative writing. I'm pretty sure that Home Ec and Woodshop and school psychologists aren't required.

IMO the US has fallen dangerously behind and soon people won't even bother to come to our universities as they're developing their own.

Is that LIBERAL? Gee. You wouldn't know would you as you can't define the term.
