think they should have publicly pushed the option of "shaming" the Lebanese army into doing what they were supposed to do in the first place, create a buffer on the border between Hizbullah controlled territory and Israel.


What were the chances of the Lebanese goverment doing that, with Hizbullah in the government and free to get resupply and reinforcement from Syria and Iran? Zilch, wouldn't you say?

Meantime, time would have passed, and Israel would have lost the opportunity to respond to the capture of its soldiers without being the big bad first-striker.
