No idea jack, been out of touch, busy, haven't read anything on it ... spent time several days with a mexicano but we were working, he is not very political anyway, more anti-politician than anything, he'd vote only if there was None of the Above on the ballot, lol .... this is not uncommon - often you will hear somebody say, voy a votar, 'i'm going to vote', what they mean is i'm off to take a dump ... if they say, voy a votar pa' el PRI, that means they expect it to be a big stinky one
The reputation of IFE is sure taking a beating, that's the department that runs elections, previous to this they enjoyed a good name for being among the most straight-up and efficient on the planet .... this was a source of great pride, and a reaction to 1988 where Salinas de Gortari clearly stole it outright ... so if they have failed live up to this, or if any of this crap just sticks to them anyway, it will be sad .... i'll try to do some reading tonight, got to make a call south tomorrow too, will keep my ears open and report anything .... but no worries mate, no matter what happens el congreso will be in gridlock, thanks in large part to proportional representation .... cheers |
