There are a few points I would disagree with - as your analysis sounds very pro-Israel, while ignoring many things they have done.
1. Sure there are a whole spectrum of beliefs in Israel. There are also far-right wing Israelis who believe in a greater Israel, and that God tells them that the West Bank is theirs, as well as other territory outside of Israel's 1967 borders.
2. Israel invaded and took Arab East Jerusalem - so this is a disputed area.
3. Israel must pull back to their 1967 borders, or they are continuing to violate UN Security council decisions - so they must be out of the West Bank and Gaza. This is not them giving away land, the land is not theirs, according to their own Israeli Supreme Court, which says these are occupied territories, not Israel itself.
4. All Arabs are not greedy and backward, just as not all Jews are saints and right all the time. These are stereotypes. I'm not saying the Arabs are right all or most of the time either. There is plenty of wrongdoing to go around. What about the ultra orthodox who say the secular Jews cannot party on the Sabbath (Saturday) and get so mad at those that do that these religious nuts throw bricks at other Israeli secular Jew's cars? Is that backward, or what???
Maybe it was not a smart choice to go back to Israel even if their ancestors did live there 2000 years ago. They are now surrounded by people who see them as Europeans who do not want them there, and they will continue to fight back and forth with them.
Israel must learn to get along with their neighbors, even if they don't like them - or I don't see a future for them there. They are very lucky that the US protects them now, gives them military supplies, and money - or they would not be in a very good place right now. |
