You will note that I said this was not a rational position, but a logical one. Once again we have Hamas and hezbollah initiating a confrontation they cannot win, and Israelis because of the constant threat of indiscriminate murder by hamas and hezbollah over reacting.
People under stress that is constant and never ending become shaped by the stress and horrors they face. Some of those horrors are imagined and some of them are real.
As I said before, the logical path says that Arabs kill Jews, they do it many days of the year and no one can stop them. After 50 years of living with the image of any Arab may be a killer at any time the solution is to kill them before they kill you. Look at Toronto, last year there was huge outrage about kids killing each other, this year we have a couple of children a week who die by violence, no one cares anymore, it isn't news, it just is. But the killing is within one social group. The Killers are often simply a subset of the people being killed. If it was a black child being killed by a white person or a white person being killed by a black person almost every day, the Group being killed would soon be Screaming in rage at city hall. Imagine it going on for 50 years. How much anger and hatred would build up.
The Israelis can define who the killers are. They know that as soon as they see an Arab, he may be a killer. They have seen on Television, sent to them by the Arabs what happens to Kidnap Victims, they are tortured and then have their heads cut off. If it was your son, or your sons playmate or friend or your daughters boyfriend or even the kid across the street, how would you react?
If it were one of my relations, any amount of bodies is worth it for their safe return. Why would an Israeli having lived with imminent death all his or her life care how many Muslims die to get those boys back. And that is the problem in a nutshell. Until the Israelis can see the Palestinians or the Lebanese as something more than the people who would kill them, their lives will be unimportant to the Israelis. Of course Israel has made a mistake taking so many Muslim Prisoners. Prisoners are always a liability.
I notice that you did not speak to my point that had hamas and Hezbollah not purchased in Hezbollah's case about 20,000 missiles they could have vastly improved the lives of the Palestinians. How much aid for the Palestinians is wasted on more bombs, more guns and more death. If you elect people who are going to buy weapons instead of food, you are going to be A) at war, and B) very very poor. Why is it that most people don't see that a government that spends all of it's money on weapons and then wants you to feed it's starving people is in reality getting you to pay for their weapons?
As for Canadians agreeing with me, why would I care about a group of silly socialists whose grip on reality is to suggest that young men who shoot at each other on a daily basis are really just misunderstood? Canadians live in their vague politically correct cocoon, believing that the world loves them and that they stand for truth and righteousness, while they fund terrorism around the globe..... |
