Thanks for that comprehensive article. It is very constructive.

The conclusion is that we are going to have three standards for the next evolution of Socket 7:

- Cyrix, not yet conceived, not yet implemented, and not yet shipped.
- AMD, conceived but still very confusing, not yet implemented, and not yet shipped
- Intel, Slot I already shipping in high quantity

Now which standard has the chance of becoming the main stream interface? The bottom line is that Socket 7 has short comings, and it has to go which Intel already knows, AMD and Cyrix are just beginning to realize.
