Thanks - talked to my Mom - she and my brother and his family live in Beit Shemesh (I lived in Israel in 1983-88) - she didn't seem very worried. Americans on SI tell me that of course everyone there must be worried... so try to get some more reality checks. When I spoke to my brother in 1991 when Iraq was firing missiles on Israel he was VERY worried.

Peretz is talking about creating a buffer zone in Lebanon and the campaign so far looks like a prelude to an invasion. We will see. I think this is dumb for the reasons you state. I said the same before the US invasion of Iraq....

It is interesting that Hizballah carried out this attack on the same day Iran was referred to the Security Council.

Countries and political leaders don't always act rationally. If Saddam Hussein had known what would happen would he have played so many games with the UN inspectors? Seems he just thought the US would not invade.

I saw the action on the Israeli stock market. Thought the same as you.
