Sure it does. Not respecting the DMZ would be stationing armed men or equipment there, invasions aren't the only thing. And that hasn't happened. Every once in a while there are some very small scale exchange of bullets. And there has been the tunneling. In other words, much like the US/Mexico border. Without the illegals...
