Spent about 45 minutes in an Apple store again today, waiting. My MacBook Pro battery suddenly went bad -- would not hold a charge for more than 15 minutes, no matter what. Unsaved stuff would vanish as the MBP suddenly went dead, without a low battery warning.

Not news to the Apple Genius. Marched right back and brought out a replacement battery, minimum questions asked. Yes, he'd seen the problem before, "lots." The guy walking out the store as I was getting helped had the same problem, I was told. Other than that, "lots" remained undefined, no matter how I tried to get an actual figure.

Saw three iPods get exchanged, two old iBooks brought back to life, but not a single new sale was made while I was in the store.
