The US has a world standard university education system and a generally lousy pre-university education system. Why is that?

Because students are able to choose what university they wish to attend. Universities must compete for students.

Most parents can't afford to choose where their children go to elementary through high school. Giving parents a voucher for the money the school system would spend on their education would give them choices. People who are well enough off can make this choice, but the poor can't.

Those who oppose vouchers, liberals IOW, don't really care about the education of poor children. And we are all worse off for that callous indifference.
