CYMER is down because people believe that Nikon and Canon are going to start buying lasers from Komatsu, That's it!!!
<<Cymer continues to be on the leading edge of DUV Laser technology. Recent customer evaluations indicate that Cymer's next generation ArF laser continues to be ahead of the competition. Strategically, Komatsu remains the key competitor as the Japanese have made no secret of wanting a Japanese second source. The Komatsu laser is 30% larger than Cymer's and to date has not achieved the same pulse power or wavelength stability as Cymer. Lambda Physik is a closer technical competitor to Cymer but according to stepper makers is still not viable at this time.>>
Cymer will capture the Asian market with or without Japanese. Si you better stick with the proven American product. Your steppers might be broken down and full of fire extinquisher foam and Cymer might have to push back your delivery.
American ingenuity and diversity is now making the BEST products. The 80ies are over. The game is moving too fast to copy. The's world best laser scientists are Asian, Russian and Japanese Americans. They live on a cliff in California and drive a Lexus. Their kids go to Stanford.
