"Israel's actions are extreme and counterproductive"
Are they really? What should they do?
Well for a start, what the Israelis should do is withdraw from their illegal occupation of the West Bank. This would take a huge amount of pressure out of the system, and open the way for a genuine settlement.
In fact, until they do withdraw, there will be not be peace, but rather, the opposite -- in the form of a relentless spread of the Palestine syndrome to country after country (i.e., so far, Palestine, Iraq, Southern and maybe all of Lebanon....).
It is amazing how good the Israelis are at tactics, and how foolish they are at strategy. Unless they really get serious about genocide, and start wiping out large numbers of Arabs, they have set themselves up for a problem that will never go away. They should meditate on Spain just a bit, which was invaded and occupied by the moros starting in 711. In the fateful year of 1492 --- that's 781 years later -- the last of the Moors were driven out of Granada and off the peninsular.
If the Jews think that they are going to maintain their technological superiority over the Arabs for the next 781 years, not to mention their one-sided, parasitic relationship to a country across the sea, that gives them all they want, and expects nothing in return, they are deluding themselves, and setting themselves up for a fate that will be ever so richly deserved. |
