Don, there are striking similarities in the rise of volatility this year and what we saw in 1998. Note the green line in the charts:





Although earnings and book to bill are much better now than in 1998 or 2002 we are still entering a period of time where fear of an economic slowdown is effecting the stock market adversely. It seems to happen almost every four years.
