The point is the neocons both in the U.S. and Israel want the fighting to spread. In the last month or so Bush Jr. has been a bit reluctant to start another war, so this crisis is designed to move Jr. back to unilateral chutzpah.

It's not Israel or America per se who are moving toward this war, but the like-minded neocon cabel from both countries.
(and probably Tonga again too)
