I just posted this one on Investor Village.

A couple of 'good' posters are now posting at the Silicon Investor board.
This is a moderated board. We had another moderated board before. Not saying this is the same, but..

As much as I hate the horrible language, the euro-gang and the mindless pumpers/bashers, a moderated board will always have to make political choices and throw people out because of their opinion/language that is irritating/offending to others.

This is not a good idea. On yahoo, some time ago, I went through old posts in April & May. Some that were ridiculed turned out to have been excellent predictions by the middle of June. On any open forum it should be up to the individual to decide who is to be ignored.

Yahoo would have been ok in the old format with a reasonable ignore list. But they messed up all at once with everything. Pretty incredible to have a board with 100.000 messages in 6 months and just lose the link to it by changing a ticker symbol. Once they eventually restore the link (or at least start a new board) and posting frequency picks up again, their new format will make it impossible to stay away for a half a day and trace relevant posts.

Investor Village is not moderated. Some with experience say that they take abuse much more serious than Yahoo (can’t be worse). And I don't think they put an arbitrary limit of 100 on the ignore list.

the jury is still out on this one, but I would advise to stay on a non-moderated board, put up with the crap that will inevitably come and use your ignore button as you yourself see fit. Not let someone else do it for you.
