It sure is good to find some of the old board members from the yahoo board.

I am retired from BellSouth after 33 1/2 years. I was able to work my way from installer/repairman all the way to the research labs working on various systems within the communication industry.

I won’t reveal any inside information concerning, one I was not in the decision making process as to what vendor is selected for any project. Yet I had the privilege to work with SONUS equipment while testing for PRI off load project.

During my career I was able to work in various field in the industry from Billing, Switching, Operators Service, Switch Translations and SS7 Signaling, I have a broad understanding of the communication industry and I see several steps that the RBOC’s need to execute in order to stay competitive in the industry.

1, The RBOC’s must broaden their service offering to customers beyond a land lines and ADSL.

2. The RBOC’s need to expand into the cable industry market with IP TV and offer a total package to customers to build up customer loyalty.

3. Maybe the most important one is the RBOC’s need to start migrating out legacy switching into some form of packet data. Due to the cost of software, manpower, reduction in fleet travel miles ( Gas ). Many rural Co’s require a person to make the rounds to repair the equipment. I’ve noticed once the SONUS equipment was installed as long as the unit had power it would process calls at an extreme high rate of speed.

All I have stated here is the Obvious, I was looking for a new board since yahoo is so messed up. I mainly watch and and listen and every once in a while I will jump in with my two cents worth.
