Hey, if you want to say that Israel is going to go into Lebanon, in significant force, on the ground, then just say it. Don't dance around the issue like a sissy.

What's different between 1982 and today?

There is NO Syrian army in Lebanon to fight.

Syria has 22,000 troops in Syria, and the PLO numbered some 15,000 armed members.

And now, compared to then, Hizbullah reportedly has some 6,000 fighters.

One other thing.. The mission THEN was to destroy the PLO and force them out of Lebanon. The mission today is to destroy Hizbullah and PRINCIPALLY their arms caches and rocket stores. Since most Hizbullah members are Lebanese, they have no where to go (except to the N. Lebanon Shi'a enclaves). There will be NO evacuation of Hizbullah soldiers (unless into exile in Iran or Syria).

So it's not really clear to me that Israel actually needs to deploy the same level of force strength as they did in 1982.
