Would you belive the irony of the fact that Hezbollah was created as a result of resistance to Israel's invasion of Lebanon in 1982, and that although Israel's awesome military machine did not destroy it in 20 years of occupation, they demand that the weak Lebanese government destroy it immediately at their request? Are we going around in ever-widening circles of violence and stupidity here?

This nonsense has been going on since a massacre of Jews in 1929. But most of the "countries" have also been created since then. Much of this was part of the Turkish Empire until the end of the second world war, and then it was controlled by the French and the English. So in reality there were no long term governments....There are no historical Arab Governments they were created by the same governments England and France and in relatively the same time period. Maybe the Ottomans could be brought back to rule the entire mess.

And Israels anger has been fired more and more by events like the murder of it's athletes at the olympics, and the Achille lauro incident where Muslim Killers hijacked a ship, and dumped a cripple overboard into the sea, simply because he was Jewish. Or the young newsman who had his head cut off because he was Jewish. No wonder they are hysterical when their young men are kidnapped.

But I have to say I wonder at the idea that "Canadians" who no longer live in Canada, and haven't for some time, have the nerve to complain that Canada doesn't immediately have ships available to Lebanon to bring them to Canada the minute there is trouble. I am also hugely irritated that this is at the expense of the Canadian Taxpayer, and not at the expense of those needing to be brought out. This should not be paid for by Canadians, but should be funded at least in part by those we are rescuing.
