Religious people are citizens just like you and have all the rights, indeed the obligations to participate in the democratic process. You obviously have certain beliefs or you would not be posting here; did you get them out of a box of cracker jacks? It really is naive, and perhaps a little arrogant to think that you can live life in a moral vacuum.

This thread is about Canadian politics. Politics is about making laws and rules for the citizens to live by. All laws are a reflection and application of certain moral principals. Now you can pretend that your moral principals are all derived apart from religion if you like, but I suspect what you are really doing is freeloading on the assumptions of Western society which are largely derived from Christianity. If you want to see how Atheistic politics work out in the real world you need to look at China and Communist Russia, but the picture is not pretty. The United States (from where you got the idea of the Church State split) is currently in the middle of an experiment trying to have it's philosophical cake while eating it too. But look at the opening words of the Declaration of independence. Apparently it is a "self evident" principal that "all men are CREATED equal". I imagine if you had been the author of that document, that you would have crossed that out. So what would you replace it with?
