You can buy them directly from the gov these days. She would like not having to deal with a broker who might try to sell her something she didn't want or know anything about. Her leaning right now is toward T-bills. A bank would pay a little more with CD's but she has more money to invest than the FDIC insurance will cover. Of course, I guess she could deal with several banks and be covered. That sounds needlessly complex, but I'll talk to her about it.
