"The Fog Of War" film showed the firebombing and nuclear holocausts in Japen were clear overkill. Perhaps we wanted revenge and were justified in making sure the Japanese threat could never again arise, but we killed millions. Then kept killing. We also killed millions in Vietnam, for far less rational or ethical reasons. Kerry was right about the atrocities of that war. Most people don't realize how nasty it got. In both cases, rightwing mega-hawks were in charge, Curtis Lemay to be exact, a man who never saw a bombing run he didn't like. I would prefer a sane man like Wes Clark in charge. Now I think of the Lebanese girl I just saw in the hospital room on CNN. Why did she have to get hit? Bombing may reduce danger to the attacking force, but it also kills an awful lot of innocent civilians. Something to think about next time we cheer a bombing run. Yes, some are justified, but others --
