Oh?? They've had an assassination of a prominent political leader, the Syrians were forced out under humilitating circumstances and they have a armed militia with over 6,000 highly motivated fanatical fighters UNWILLING to submit to the authority of the central Lebanese government..
You're referring mostly to matters over a year old. After that Syrian assassination, the Lebanese got fed up, had a peaceful (pretty much) revolt and forced the Syrians out. Then they established a democracy. The remarks about Hezbollah is fair. The central gov't was never able to get real control of the south of the country or disarm the Hezbollah militia. That militia is what started this. Basically the country had 2 gov'ts with 2 foreign policies. One was willing to get along with Israel; the other was not. But there still was little warning this was coming. Had I been over there, I believe I would have gotten out when Hamas kidnapped the Israeli soldier. The whole region there is interconnected and trouble in one part can cause trouble in others. Basically it's a risky area to travel in. I felt there was some risk even in that Turkey trip we took recently, even though Turkey has stayed clear of the ME conflicts. They did riot in Istanbul after the Danish cartoons and the country is 95% Muslim.

I think they will be alright. They're not exposed to the bombing campaign (and that's all feel comfortable saying until they are out of the country).

But I believe they will think twice before they return to see his folks.

That would be an excellent idea. I know I never intend to go back to the area I referred to. My wife would like to, but that's too bad.
